Lions may be the only wild cats that are social. A group of lions are called prides. One group of lions can have up to 40 members. Lions are referred to as "king of the jungles." Lions are carnivores. They eat zebra, antelope and wildebeest. Asiatic lions eat goats and buffalo. Male lions have manes. The bigger and darker the mane, the more likely females will mate with him. The mane also protects the neck of a male lion when he fights with other males. The lions closest relatives are the tigers, snow leopards, jaguars and leopards.
